Plea for a universal integration

The world’s population is growing, migration is vast. With all challenges ahead, the current population of 7.4 billion people is facing a future which is often drawn in grim colours. A future where lack of resources, shortage of drinking water, natural disasters, economic crises and lack of space lead to war-like conflicts and the loss of cultural discourse. In the midst of such an outlook, many social movements offer modest, bureaucratic, conservative and undiscerning ideas. Their main goal is to act economically. Passive, compact, microand optimalare slogans to reflect their attitude. Great, high aiming political gestures, also in architecture, are immediately seen as suspicious, profligate, presumptuous and far from reality. Our goal is to develop a dystopian image of our future, a concept and a manageable stepstone.

In the course of the coming years, mass migration will rise. The ongoing conflicts in Syria, Afghanistan, Libanon, Kongo, Somalia and the Ukraine, as well as results of global warming and natural disasters, are strong factors for that. The mass migration will not be stopped. The masses of people, longing for our outlook of the world, will come and ask questions: Where are the miracles? Where is your high culture? Where is the civil society, democracy, progress, integration?

We have an important mission to fulfill. We are to look into our hearts and be brave. We are to be remembered, that - with every single life more on earth - human values are connected, as well as dangers, risks and casualties. The shortage of space, however, is a miss.

To put all people next to each other, only the area of Luxemburg is necessary.  The shortages are very local issues. There has never been a total general shortage, and there never will be. The pathology to the existential angst is a product of sick claustrophobia. This phobia is a product of anormal human relations. It is, furthermore, a result of a lost sense of living, the misliving, as well as space-related manifested social structures.

Yet, what has become obvious by now, even in the most primitive European ways of living, namely inside refugee camps and in homes of asylum seekers, integration is present as the most important issue on the agenda. The integrationism is expanding and is presented as a means to all ends, as a cure against all crises of the multi-culturalism, which, as a former concept, has been declared dead. The currently propagated assisted integration buildings, designed with space for interchange and social activities such as cultural and language courses, are supposed to replace the formerly multicultural cities, respectively keep the multi-cultural cities quiet.
Within this debate, it becomes clear that living is seen as a basic defect of the system. It is presented as such, while the system itself is shown to be unwilling to accept integration. „The responsibility lies within the people, the defect is inside the population, in their homes“, seems to be the attitude.

By now, the space-related presence of the democratic administration, however, remains exclusive, separated, and centralised, far from the people. Yet, the administration executing integration has to face the fact that the overall goal of integration is to overcome the self, respectively to overcome the habit to rule alone, not just the mixture of private and urban use by the people. Integration has to be universal. The atmosphere fits this demand.

The modern era is gone with all its facets. All kinds of separation, preserving, widely applied classification, and cleansing, is completed in total. It’s enough. A time is at sight, wherein all fragments separated my modern era-developments are re-united again to become one whole entity. Space will be the home.  The welcoming call „Everybody is welcome“ has already generated this space: Europe becomes a structure of integration, everythingwill be living structures. The smallest unit of the system will also be the only one. Living is everything. Everythingis sovereign. Everythingis co-living. Everythingis separation and mixture. Everythingis business, product, income and expense. Everythingis capital, everythingis management. Everythingis order, Everything- assisted, democratised, integrated.

To provide space to the people coming here, today rooms are used which are basically worthless to the system. Empty office space, gyms, stadiums, restaurants are used to become simple buildings for integration. Soon enough, also the shopping centres, churches, museums, post offices and universities will be settled. Airports, hospitals, archives, parliaments, national banks, administration buildings, stock exchange houses, production sights, etc. will become living space.

As a parallel development, and in a parallel process of everything becoming something, the integration of the system takes place. Our system has to surrender in times of omnipresent settling, and be restructured. The system will not go away. In contrast, it will be re-constructed, and spread into new parts of public space, it will be part of every integration building, will become a daily visible, simple, profane and humane institution.

The allegedly lost functions, tasks and values of our society will be separated and shared by the responsibility of single households or living units, administering and managing themselves. The production, the capital, the bureaucracy, the disabled humans, science, education, the foreigners, humans of various sexual orientation, incarcerated people, the police, the art, religion, the ruling class, the refugees, people without perspective, the radicals, the fearful, the simple ones, the caring, the workers, the nature - everything has to be integrated. Buildings for integration will fulfill the task to unite them all. The integration has to be universal.
